Frequently Asked Questions
Are you working on a homework assignment or a report? Do you just want to know more about me? These are some of the questions I get asked most often.
When and where were you born?
I was born in a seaside town in Massachusetts in the year of Star Wars. (As a librarian, I need to demonstrate good digital citizenship and not put too much personal information out there on the internet.)

Where do you get your ideas?
The short answer is, I try to pay attention to the world around me and see what sparks my interest. Each book I have written starts with me noticing something and a what-if question.

How long does it take you to write a book?
Anywhere from nine months to nine years.

What is the theme of The Firefly Code?
Nice try, buster! If your teacher is asking you for the theme of one of my books, you need to figure that out. Sorry!
